Hi. My name is Debbie Tonkovich. I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist who has supported middle and high school students, in their schools (pre-Covid) and remotely (once the school buildings closed) for over five years. I am experienced in working with students struggling with those thoughts, actions, or emotions that may be bringing them down; everything from insecurity, anxiety, and confusion to anger or sadness. I am trained in multiple evidence-based modalities and tailor my approach to the unique needs/stories of each client. I see my role as helping students to figure out what they want, and how to get there. In addition to being a therapist, I am the mother of four adult children. They were my inspiration to pursue this work. When my children grew up and were on their way to creating their own homes, I wanted to continue to support young people as well as their parents and/or guardians. So I went back to school and received my Master's in Counseling the same week my youngest daughter graduated from high school. This is not my first career. I have been a photojournalist, advertising copywriter, and in-home daycare provider. But I can honestly say, this work is by far the best of all.
