Chat with me

Hello! My preferred name is Josie. I am deeply passionate about my work and have spent the past 10 years working predominantly with children and youth in the school setting. I have been a part of a school district's crisis teams, intervention teams, as part of an IEP and 504 team, and most importantly, as an advocate and service provider for my clients. My approach to working with children and youth utilizes a systems approach to treatment, tapping into a youth's school, community and family systems as part of a comprehensive treatment team. On my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends exploring the outdoors. I appreciate a good sense of humor, learning something new, taking time for self-care. Laughter and learning drive me. Primarily in my current practice in working with children and youth, I see clients who experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, early onset psychosis, disordered eating, family disruption/ conflict, bullying, trauma, grief and loss, ect. I have worked with children and youth ranging from ages 5-22; however, prefer working with youth of middle and high school age. I firmly believe in working directly with the youth to determine attainable goals. For me, therapy is client driven; meaning we start with client led concerns to develop a client led treatment goal; and success is determined by the client's experience of improvement. Collaboration is key. In practice, I work from an educational and somatic approach to therapy, with an emphasis on the mind/body connection to healing. I thoroughly enjoy my work and I believe that shows. I want to learn about my clients, from my clients. I feel that although the therapeutic relationship is temporary, it is deeply meaningful and I will honor that time with compassion, empathy, and skilled treatment.
