Welcome! My name is Megha Sundar (she/her). I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #133886) and am supervised by Dr. Ashley Cherry. I know how scary it can be to be vulnerable with someone, so thank you for taking the time to learn about me. Some of the ways I identify myself are first generation Indian American, LGBTQIA+ affirming, progressive, BIPOC, anti-racist, spiritual, feminist, multilingual, family oriented, eldest child, music lover, surfer, traveler, dancer, and dog lover. I moved to San Diego back in 2021 where I recently completed my Master's Degree in Counseling at SDSU. During my time here I gained experience working with children and youth from the ages of 5-18 in the San Diego school districts. A fun fact about me is that when I was younger I wanted to open up my own bakery! I discovered my passion for mental health when I was in high school. After a close friend of mine expressed that she was going through a really challenging time with her family. I remember being in conversation about intense academic pressures, feelings of sadness, difficult friendships, relationships, culture, and much more. As a therapist, I utilize a mixture of Narrative, Solution Focused, Emotion Focused, Art and Play therapies. Overall, I use a gentle, safe, and curious approach. I understand how scary and challenging life can be. I promise to hold your stories with kindness and compassion. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and have the power to enact the change you wish to see. My role as a therapist is to ask you questions in a way that invites deeper reflection on the stories of your life. Sometimes the stories we tell ourselves steal the control we have over our lives. My hope is that we can work together to shift these narratives and regain power and agency over these stories.
