I completed my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I have several years of experience in the field with most of that time being working with children and teens. I have served in a variety of roles including working for the mobile crisis team in Comal County, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Bulverde, Willow Springs Recovery in Bastrop, and serving as a SPED counselor for Bastrop ISD. I am skilled at working with many types of clients, diagnoses, and situations. I have come to understand the importance of providing a safe, comfortable, and empathic environment for clients, where they can openly talk about feelings and thoughts free of judgement. I have spent the last 4 years of my life working as an LPC within the school setting serving youth ages 6-19. I truly enjoy working with students and their families, and helping them as they navigate the school system and the ongoing challenges of being a young person and parent of a young person in today's ever-changing society. Growing up I was always the kind of kid who people wanted to talk to when they were dealing with tough things. I became a great listener and had awesome friendships. I experienced a lot in my family and with my friends growing up and lost a lot of people early on in my life in ways that forever changed me. For these reasons, I experienced anxiety and depression myself due to the hardships I endured, but through discovering who I wanted to be and working for it, I have come out the other side of things using those experiences (as well as ones I have continued to come up against) to help me connect with people and help them to find the same connection within themselves. This is especially helpful in working with children and teens as connection, understanding, and empathy are vital to building a trusting relationship with them. I look forward to being a part of continuing to help students and their families meet their goals and fulfill their dreams in the days, months, and years to come.
